Bat Caddy X3R Review 2018
Bat-Caddy is probably the best known manufacturer of electric golf caddies in the US right now, and the Bat-Caddy X3R is the best selling model standing at its 10th iteration. The X3R has stood the test of time and has been refined and improved upon year on year and it's no surprise this is one of the most popular electric golf caddies you can buy.
What makes the Bat-Caddy X3R the best?
Well after using the Bat-Caddy X3R as my golf caddie for the past three months it's definitely one of the best I've had the pleasure of using and packs some surprising features that aren't typically found in golf caddies for under $700.
The Bat-Caddy is lightweight at 1.8 kilograms. The golf bag and clubs are nicely balanced in this golf cart, and includes an anti-tip wheel which will prevent any tip overs.
There are dual motors in this caddy which are powerful but quiet. They are ISO 900 certified so you can be assured that you’re purchasing a golf caddy with a high-quality motor system.
There is an optional USB port you can purchase in case you wish to plug in a GPS or a cell phone.
The tires are airless and have rubberized tread, with a tracking adjustment for the front wheels. There is a drive train with a rear wheel drive, and dual independent transmission. Whether you run the caddy on power or use it manually, the wheels will turn and adjust on the course.
Remote Functionality: Most impressive was the remote functionality. I loved being able to send the trolley to the next hole without having to push or hold a button on the handle. It gives you the freedom to keep your hands relatively free (except the remote) but with your other hand you can fill in the scorecard on your golf app etc.
It's hard to explain the difference not pushing the cart makes on your game, without the added strain on your shoulders and back you're truly free to concentrate on your game without the aches and pains that are associated with lugging your golf clubs around, which ultimately affect your shots.
Build Quality: The build quality wasn't a disappointment either, the aluminum alloy frame is built to last and the folding process is smooth and easy and feels as though its built to last. If the looks are something you find important you'll see from the image above that the X3R is quite a sleek and modern looking golf caddie that looks better than most.
Is it easy to use?: The best way to show this is with the video below which illustrates how to assemble the Bat-Caddy X3R and how to fold/unfold.
Battery Life: Battery life was as expected, when fully charged it managed to power through all 18 holes with some battery still in the tank. Although it wouldn't
Accessories: You'll find a scorecard holder, umbrella holder and beverage holder included in the purchase price here. There are also several accessories you can purchase separately such as the carrying bag, removable seat and lithium battery.
Save Money: If you usually hire out a golf cart on the course, you're essentially throwing away the money you could have spent purchasing an electric golf caddie for yourself. These costs for me were upwards of $200 a month and if your costs are similar you'll be saving money in 4 months and have the added benefit of getting some exercise and soaking in the great outdoors.
Safety Features: There are some nice safety features built into the Bat-Caddy X3R helping you stay safe on the course.
It has an electronic brake approach to keep everyone safe on the course. The motor controls are placed in a rain-proof case so you don’t have to worry when you golf in all types of weather.
The caddy immediately responds to the controls without lag, allowing you to remain in control at all times. An embedded safety feature actually stops the movement of the trolley after 45 seconds if it has not received any further signals from the remote controller. This means that you’ll never have to worry about it running away from you.
There is also a temperature control so if the caddie gets too hot, it automatically shuts down to save the battery.
A tracking adjustment will enable you to align the X3R wheels so that you can calibrate your tracking direction easily.
There is a user manual that makes the operation of the Bat-Caddy X3R simple and easy to understand.
Bat-Caddy X3R Review Conclusion
Bat-Caddy are known for their great push carts/caddies and the 2018 X3R exceeds the expectations I've come to expect from them. If you're looking to buy a great value electric golf caddie with remote functionality this won't disappoint you.
If you’re ready for an electronically-operated golf caddy, you’ll appreciate the Bat-Caddy X3R. You’ll also love how you can use it powered up or manually, as not all powered golf caddies move once they are turned off.
This caddy is perfect for beginners and is definitely going to improve your score when you don’t have to expend energy in pushing your clubs around the course.
